Don Ressler is an entrepreneur and has been fundamental in the success of several start-ups. Don Ressler started FitnessHeaven in 2000, a site which offered information on exercise, nutrition, medicine, diets, sports, and home and family life. The company was purchase by Intermix media in 2001. While at intermix media, Ressler met Adam Goldenberg who was at the time the Chief Operating Officer. The two teamed up to form Alena media, an e-commerce and performance advertising media, which generated hundreds of millions of dollars for Intermix Media. In 2005 Intermix Media was acquired by News Corp and Ressler and Goldenberg left to explore new opportunities.
Adam Goldenberg and Don Ressler embarked on a mission to create a brand building enterprise and after holding a brainstorming session with several of Alena former team members, Brand Ideas was born. Brand Ideas was later named Intelligent Beauty. DERMSTORE, an online skincare and cosmetics marketplace was the first company created under Intelligent Beauty. SENSA, a weight-loss system, was the second creation under Intelligent Beauty.
In 2010 a subscription e-commerce fashion retailer JustFab was created. The goal of the company was to create a new platform for shopping where clients could obtain incredible on-trend fashion at an incredible value. With a simple questionnaire, the members reveal their size and fashion preference and this eliminates production of unwanted products. This helps in predicting production needs, therefore reducing overhead costs.
In 2011, JustFab received 33 million dollars in funding from Matrix Partners. In September the same year Kimora Lee Simmons joined in as President and Creative Director. A second round of funding was raised by Ressler and Rosenberg in April 2012 and the partners secured 76 million dollars from Rho Ventures, Matrix Partners, Crossover Ventures and Intelligent Beauty in June the same year.
On January 18th 2013, JustFab purchased FabKids, a children’s fashion subscription service. On May 23rd 2013, JustFab acquired The Fab Shoes, a European e-commerce fashion site. In August, JustFab acquired ShoeDazzle, a rival shoe subscription service. Ressler and Goldenberg then embarked on a series C funding round and raised 40 million dollars. After the completion of the fundraising, Don Ressler launched Fabletics, an athletic wear company, in collaboration with Kate Hudson on October 1st 2013.
JustFab was rebranded and renamed in 2016 to TechStyle Fashion Group. Techstyle Fashion Group encapsulates the company’s origins rooted in technology while also signaling its evolution from a single e-commerce site to a global brand-building platform. TechStyle Fashion Group has over 4 million subscribers across its brands.
